PW Cookbook!

October 31, 2009 by Laura

This week I met the Pioneer Woman, Ree Drummond! I was beyond excited to get her cookbook and have her sign it for me. My feet…they don’t agree.

I left work to meet a friend at the bookstore. We were there are 5:15 for the 6:30 signing. We were probably the 80th people in line! The first girl there got there at 3:45. WOW. After standing (in heels! the balls of my feet hate me!) for three hours, it was our turn to meet Ree. She is just as wonderful and sweet in person as she appears on her blog. She was very gracious and loved my dress! Hah!

I am glad we got out when we did. The line was wrapped out the door, all around the first floor of the mall. It was insane the amount of people who love PW as much as I do!

Her whole family was there to support her including her mom, grandma, all four kids and her amazing husband, Marlboro Man! MM plus the kids were walking around, talking to everyone in line and were so sweet. They took pictures and even autographed our books too! It was great.

PW’s daughters told us they were staying at the Skirvin hotel (an old hotel downtown that was recently renovated and is so nice!) that night and they were excited to sleep in and not have to do chores the next morning. I love it!

Since we had so much time on our hands, we had time to meet some fabulous ladies and one even works at the same company as me! Such a small world. Another great lady we met is Melinda Brookshire. She is a country girl from Atlanta who now lives in Western Oklahoma and does fabulous photography. Check out her work: http://melindabrookshirephotography.com/.

If you need a new cookbook, make sure you check out Pioneer Woman’s. It has great recipes and great photographs! http://www.amazon.com/Pioneer-Woman-Cooks-Recipes-Accidental/dp/0061658197/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1257016674&sr=8-1

Laura!! Great photos! It was so great meeting you gals (look, that Okie talk is already wearing off on me) the other night. Thanks for the compliments on my photography and for the shout-out (I'm totally blushing right now!).

I was standing in line behind you and was wondering how your feet were holding out! Loved the outfit though! Wasn't meeting PW the best?

Oh how exciting! My daughter and I are attending her Atlanta signing and cannot wait. Unfortunetely, Borders is not being very helpful regarding the event, in fact, rather rude. Anyway, I bet you had a great time!
