2010 Christmas Home!

December 13, 2010 by Laura

Welcome to our home, all fancy for Christmas! I love the house decorated for Christmas although I’m not completely finished yet. The house feels so warm and cozy, I love this month! I’ve tried to edit down the photos, but I still have a bunch so prepare for photo overload!

This was the first time Conner and I had ever hung outside Christmas lights and I love them! I hope that each year we can add on a little bit and continue to outline all the points of the house and roof.

This is the first thing you see when you walk in our front door. The coffee filter wreath was such a fun project and I love how it turned out! The buffet was a fun restoration project as well and looking at the before and after makes me want to paint another piece of furniture in our house!

The dining room is right off of the entryway. My parents gave us my great, great-uncle’s dining room table and buffet that they had used since getting married. I love having a table to set and a fun place to display my randomly created centerpieces and our first-ever live tree! I also have a project in the works for the blank wall space above the buffet so stop by again to check that out!

I really love having a set dining table I think it makes your table look so gorgeous and gives your house a great feeling of warmth and welcome! The table runner is from Target and the green napkins are from Wal-Mart. The napkin rings were a gift from our wedding and have a beaded pattern that matches our china, Vera Wang’s Grosgrain. The red chargers I already had and my mom let me borrow her Spode Christmas Tree salad plates and red wine glasses to give the table a more festive feeling. She has collected the china for so long and now has 24 place settings of it!

Here is our mantel! It is several garlands wrapped together as well as ornaments, pinecones and candleholders mixed together. Our stockings are my favorite part! With all of the Holiday Home linky parties, I have so many ideas for next year’s mantel!

This tray is from Hobby Lobby and I love it! It sits on top of our reupholstered ottoman and yes, that is a craft in progress in the background. The little birdy is from Michael’s and funny story – it was on clearance for $1 but since there was no price tag and they were busy, I got it for free. Score! The little jute tree was a project that was supposed to be made out of one thing, then another and ended up like this.

This sofa table was actually a black desk we had in our old house. Since we didn’t use the desk I painted it white, distressed it and gave it a new knob to use as our sofa table. I added greenery and red berry springs around the entertaining books and put some red jingle bells in with our bowl of corks. The lamps are from TJ Maxx and I love the hammered detail on the base!

These little guys sit on the end table between our couch and loveseat. The reindeer was an after-Christmas clearance last year, the stackable Santa was in my stocking two years ago and the jar with jingle bells was another Dollar Tree apothecary jar I made and stuck in the leftover jingle bells from my jingle bell mason jars!

On one bookshelf in our fireplace built-ins, I have a jar with faux snow and ornaments and a jar with faux snow, red berry garland, clippings from a plant in our backyard and a glittery snowflake from Dollar Tree.

In our kitchen, I have a lighted garland wrapping along the back of the countertops. I have this teal plate holder out year-round but change up the contents of it for the season. Right now, I have my easy and cheap chalkboard tray that is a perfect present! I made both of our moms this for Christmas last year. I will definitely show you how to make this in a future post – love it!

The bar sits in our breakfast nook and also has some lighted greenery on top. I usually have a lamp here as well but moved it so we can see our Christmas cards as they come in! I finally ordered our cards this weekend – better late than never, right? I made this Christmas card holder so the cards we receive won’t just sit in a pile and will show you this quick and cheap project in another post as well.

This is our fake hand-me-down tree that is in Conner’s living room. Yes, it is an OSU theme and yes, we love it!! I can’t wait to add more ornaments here every year. We finally hooked our trees up to timers this weekend – I will never go without them again! Love not worrying about plugging in and un-plugging the tree each day.

There are two leaning bookcases flanking the TV in this living room and both have various Christmas decorations on them, including the Keep Calm Christmas prints that were free!

Well, that is our home decorated for Christmas in 2010! Thank you for stopping by, I hope you enjoyed our house. I am linking up to The Nester’s Tour of Homes, Kelly’s Korner Show Us Your Life Christmas Homes, The Shabby Chic Cottage and Hooked On Houses’ Holiday Home Tour. Hope to see you there!

I like your coffee filter wreath. I'm going to make that one. I have a wreath I made out of white plastic bags from stores and it looks good too. I reminds me of your wreath too. I also like your blue cabinet below it too. Great Christmas decorations, thanks for sharing them. Merry Christmas Woodena
