Tonight at book club, we are discussing our latest read: “The Help.” I would like to give this book a very high rating, a standing ovation and a huge pat on the back. Bravo Kathryn Stockett, bravo! I absolutely loved this book. I was sucked into the story from the very beginning and had a very hard time putting it down.
This is a story about two black women and one white woman in Jackson, Mississippi in the 1950’s and 1960’s. Race is at the center of this book and really makes you step back and think about how you treat everyone you encounter. There were a lot of sad moments, some very happy moments and everything in between. I cannot say enough good things about it and hope that everyone has a chance to read this book!
P.S. I realize that this is a very vague and broad review but I don’t want to go into too much detail and ruin the plot for you. If you have read it, please let me know who your favorite character is! If you haven’t read it, please do and then let me know what you think of the book!
