Curtain Mishap

February 10, 2011 by Laura

While my mom was here sewing our fabulous bedroom curtains, she was also working on our equally as fabulous living room curtains! They look so great…minus one small mishap. See how they don’t extend all the way across our window? Yeah…about that. When I ordered the curtain rods, I knew I needed two to fit this area. I ordered the longest one and the shortest one, which would give us plenty of extra room. It would have been perfect except for the fact that the tubes from the two different lengths wouldn’t fit inside each other. At all!

Oh, I was livid. LIVID. I wanted to scream, cry and curse. I did a little of all three while my husband, mom and brother looked at me like I lost my mind because I couldn’t express my frustrations with words. Have you ever had one of those moments? You have a plan, think it is going to work perfectly and then boom – a mishap you didn’t count on and it foils your perfect plan. That is exactly what happened at the Steen house on Sunday afternoon. I took a deep breath and calmed down….slightly…

A new curtain rod, one that is the longest length, is on its way to our house and should arrive tomorrow so we can properly dress this window. I know it will work, as that is what we did in our kitchen. (I know, I should have done it from the start but I thought it would work and save $30 at the same time.) I am happy to report that the short curtain rod will work for one of the guest bedrooms so it is not a waste or loss! I hope to have new pictures of this window for you next week…as long as it goes as planned. Hah!
