So the question of the day is: have you ever had to pick out a large area rug? It is HARD, y’all! I’m trying to find one for our dining room and the choices are overwhelming. This rug search is in addition to the search for fabric to recover the seats of our dining room chairs. Both things have the criteria of: looking good with the chevron curtains in the dining room and the recovered lamp shades on the buffet and (now that we’re knocking down the wall that separates these rooms) it all must flow into our living room without looking weird – whew!
Take this rug from RugsUSA. Love the pattern, love the color. BUT…is it too much? Will the dark color look weird on dark floors? Will it compete with the other patterns already in the room?
This one from RugsUSA might be my favorite but again, am I sure? It is a blue-grey. Do I want that much blue? Do I want something other than grey? I love the pattern and the fact that it is all subtle but am I ready to commit?
This rug from IKEA is absolutely amazing! I love the graphic stripes that aren’t perfect. So now the doubt sets in…is it too much? Too dark for what I want? Do I want to commit to that much black and white? I think it might be too modern for our dining room but I love it.
And then I come full circle with another light grey-blue rug with an ivory pattern from Overstock. Maybe I’m telling myself something here? Maybe I need to commit to a light-colored rug and just search for that? I’m clearly having commitment issues, people. Any help or words of advice you could provide? I would greatly appreciate it!
I like the gray snowflake one. I’m looking for a dining room rug that’s just the right shade of green. Man! you think you’ve got trouble….
I’m digging that last one. Pale grey & white is possibly my favorite combination. I do think staying with a lighter rug might be the way to go with dark floors!
[…] couple of weeks ago, I showed you the rug options I was looking at for our dining room. They all had color and they all had patterns. I kept thinking about it and I kept going back to […]
