Since our floors have been completely finished and installed, we have done nothing on the house and it has been so nice! We took a break but now its time to finish it up…painting time!
There are four areas I want to focus on when starting this project. I know there is a lot more I want to do, but I figure if I focus on these first it will make me feel so much better about this space!
1 – The ceilings are painted the same gold-beige color as the walls. Bleh. I am not a fan of painted ceilings unless it is something super cool like a pattern in a nursery. For the main spaces? I want clean and crisp and bright white! It always makes the room seem so much brighter and the ceilings higher.
2 – The walls have some really ‘awesome’ touch-up spots on them that will be covered by a nice, pale grey that is the same grey as our living room. I can’t wait for this room to be nice and soothing instead of boring and blah!
3 – The trim will have to be painted white. There are a ton of nail holes from the contractors installing them, so I am looking forward (huge sarcasm here) to puttying those and then painting the boards. The worst part is that we can’t use paint tape on the floor so we’ll instead be using a cut-in tool that will definitely slow down this process.
4 – The walls in the hallways will be painted as well. I hadn’t even thought about the fact that we would see the repair spots in the hallways since I was focusing on the dining room. Once it is done, I will be so happy not to see the sheetrock repair spots!
So these are the projects I hope to complete in the next two months. That is my deadline and my goal – I hope to meet it since it would be nice to go on vacation with the paint projects complete!
I love that gray is taking over as the new neutral, it seems like such a wonderful backdrop for fabric and artwork. Cannot wait to see how yours turns out!! Good luck on your vacation deadline, it will be nice to come home to a gorgeous space!!
I actually like painted ceilings! I think they can be fun. And in my house, with the walls having a texture, it saves me from having to try to get a crisp paint line (since we all know painter’s tape doesn’t work on textured walls). However, I didn’t decide to paint my ceilings until I’d done all but two rooms in the house. 😉
goodluck! we just bought our first home, so I know how exhausting, yet exciting it can all be 🙂
