Today, I’m currently coveting decoupage plates from John Derian.

I love the whimsy of the plates as well as the purpose and function of them. They are pretty enough to hang on the wall but also extremely functional to sit on the counter and hold your favorite pieces of jewelry or some coral! This particular one is on my birthday wish list…I’ll let you know if my collection gets started!

Happy June!

Happy June!! This has to be one of my most favorite months. Weddings, babies, cookouts with friends and of course, my birthday!! Hah! Only 17 more days and I will be one year older and hopefully wiser. I’ve got a theme for what I would like for my birthday and it starts with these beauties:

Tory Burch, talk. to. me! I love these classic Reva Flats and really hope I get a pair. I would love them in all textures and colors but will be more than happy to start my collection with the basic black flats. I also need new pumps for work and fun sandals for play but the starting point for my wish list this year is the right and left staring at you above!

Today, I am currently coveting this dress from Anthropologie.

I love everything about it, including the pattern, shape and v-neck scoop! It is gorgeous and has just enough drape with just enough dressy to be perfect for any event this summer. I think I’ve found this year’s birthday dress! (Yes, I know. My birthday is June 18 but it is never too early to plan!)

Fore he’s a jolly good fellow

I absolutely LOVE this 30th birthday party idea that was featured on Hostess with the Mostess this week. So clever and absolutely perfect fore (see what I did there?) the man in your life! I’m keeping this one tucked away for ideas for Conner’s birthday party that he doesn’t want but will have to deal with getting anyway. 🙂

Ideas like Rice Krispie Treats as the sand traps and donut holes in a metal tin as a buck of balls is so cute and so stinking creative! Crazy for Design is the creativity behind this whole theme and I think it is absolutely genius. To see more pictures and read more details, visit Hostess with the Mostess.

For my mom’s birthday present this year, we made her a replica of a wall hanging she found at Pottery Barn and loved. The inspiration piece was WAY too expensive so we made it ourselves. Personal and more economical. 🙂

We took a piece of plywood, painted it and distressed it (i.e. had a BLAST with an electric sander) then poured on the polyurethane. After we gave it to her last weekend, I took it back! I know what you’re thinking – how rude! Well, I wasn’t satisfied so I took it back to do some more work. Here are the results!

The first is the inspiration piece:

AND…This is our version:

Here is a close-up of part of our version:

Here is another close-up of our version:

And, another close-up of our distressed version:

So, what do you think? Did we do okay? Mom is going to put it out on their new porch so the weather will beat it up even more – perfect! The spot on the wall outside looks great with this on it!
