Archive for the ‘Featured on the Blog’ Category

So today was a fun day on the Internet for me! I was featured on BuzzFeed. Say what?!

DIY Headboard on BuzzFeedThanks to a girlfriend, I was alerted that my DIY tufted headboard was featured as one of their 24 West Elm Hacks. It was a pretty cool feeling to see my headboard and my room on a site like this. Thanks for the feature, BuzzFeed!

Side note: my family doesn’t really support the word ‘hack’ but I get it. I’m knocking off something that is really expensive so I get it. I do! But then I read some of the comments on the BuzzFeed article… ouch… maybe some day we’ll get to see the houses of the people who leave mean comments, yes? 😉

Emily at I Love Farm Weddings left me a sweet comment this week – she featured my DIY Anniversary Subway Art on her blog!

This has been one of my most popular posts and is getting some serious love on Pinterest. Someone pinned it (nope, didn’t know the person and nope, it wasn’t me) and I keep seeing it repinned by others – wow! It is so exciting and really crazy to me! This was something I did purely for Conner and the love of “our” song. It makes me happy that this project has resonated with so many people!

Please take a moment to visit Emily’s site and show her some love!

I am so excited that Cassie over at Hi Sugarplum! featured my spray painted garden stools yesterday! It is my first feature ever and I was thrilled and honored. She was impressed with how easy it was to take those ugly $25 Garden Ridge stools and make them fabulous for way less!

I’ve had several friends compliment them as well and am happy they are holding up, especially under this heat! I noticed that the back of the right one is bubbly in several spots but I think that is because I painted these after it was too hot for the paint to dry. When it cools down, I’ll sand that off and re-spray the stool. Definitely take the advice on the can and don’t spray paint when it is above 90 degrees!

Thanks again, Cassie! I’m so excited for my first feature on another blog!

I am so excited to show you this before & after that my friend, Kelli, sent me! She was looking for a new piece of furniture for her living room TV and found this armoire.

It was a really great looking piece even before her dad worked his magic! She purchased it for $250 at the end of last year. Should it hurt my feelings that my entryway buffet looks like this and she wanted to change it? Hah! Just kidding, Kel.

Here is the after! Wow, what a difference and what a great looking mirrored piece of furniture. Her dad did all of the work and deserves some major kudos for such a great job!

Here is a mirrored armoire from Horchow. Just as gorgeous but comes in at a whopping $2,199!!

The total cost of Kelli’s armoire? Only $480!! The mirrors cost $150, the spray paint (silver and black was used) was $35 and the new knobs were $45. Amazing!! Way to go, what a great before & after!

If you have any great before & after projects or if you’ve made something that has been shown on this blog, please e-mail them to me at laurasteen {at} sbcglobal {dot} net! I would love to feature your project.
