I have several friends who are building new homes and renovating their current ones. It makes me so jealous of all the decisions they get to make with how their house is laid out and the materials they get to use!

I saw this picture on Pinterest this weekend and I became super jealous of whoever gets to live here! What a gorgeous butler’s pantry and a total dream come true. The white cabinetry and silver leafed walls make this room a perfect beauty. I wouldn’t complain about this space!

Okay friends and family, I need your help! Now that the floors are finished, I have the urge to change some things up in the house. Surprise, surprise! Today, I need your help with something in the kitchen.

Yes, the picture is amazingly blurry but hopefully you get the idea. See that black table and chairs? That’s what we’re focusing on here. Keep in mind the walls will soon be a light grey but what I need to know is – should I change the color of the table? What about the chairs? Should they both change? Stay the same? Here is what I’m thinking…

I could paint the table white, as illustrated in this post by the always fabulous Centsational Girl. But what would I do with the chairs? Leave them black? Paint them white too? Paint them a fun, random color?

Or, how about this post by KFD Designs that I found on Pinterest? It was a regular wood table before so that concerns me, but I love the Restoration Hardware-inspired greywash! I could paint the chairs white to do a mix and match thing in the breakfast area?

See, I’m torn and clearly have no idea what I want to do. The only thing I know is that I don’t want a black table and black chairs anymore. It is feeling too heavy in this house! Leave me a comment, send me a message on Twitter or email me – I would love to hear your feedback and suggestions.

I am so ready to finish our kitchen but I go back and forth on how I want to finish it. Granite? Marble? Subway tile backsplash? Solid slab of marble? So many choices! I have been looking at Houzz and Pinterest, checking out all of the options for white kitchens and there are a ton! I love it.

This one has amazing features all around – grey marble, white cabinets, dark wood floors and the perfect open flow into the living room. I love the pendant lights and lets get serious – the orange stools are after my heart!

This idea gets two thumbs up! I love a hidden area for all of the electronics in the kitchen and wish we had room for this. It is a great solution to the cords and appliances usually seen cluttering up countertops across America.

The thing I love about all of these has to be the white farmhouse sink. My absolute favorite! I think this is one element that will not change in my list of wants for our kitchen. I can’t even imagine how nice it will be to have one large sink that doesn’t look scratched at all times like our current stainless steel sink does.

This one has a light fixture that I can’t get out of my head. The round chandelier is gorgeous!! I want it for our entryway but there’s one catch. It is $3,500!! Holy moly that is way too much money for a chandelier. We can spend that and get completely new countertops! But isn’t she pretty? Ahhh…

I would so use these benches!! I absolutely love everything about this kitchen (color, floor, pendants, etc) but the best feature is definitely the tall benches used as barstools at the island! What a great focal feature and so comfy for family and friends who want to pull up while you cook away and definitely enjoy a glass…or bottle…of wine!

P.S. I’m finally figuring out Pinterest! It is a great place to store ideas and inspirations, like this one, for all aspects of your life. If you would like an invitation to join, please email me and I’ll send you one!

Today, I am currently coveting a white farmhouse sink!

I am itching to finish our kitchen makeover and I know a sink just like this one will help finish it all off! The size and color is perfect for the look I’m envisioning and I’m very ready to get rid of our stainless steel, hard to keep clean sink!

We have done so much already in this room with our makeover from last summer but I am ready to take it all of the way with new backsplash, countertops and big, white sink! I am ready to rip the old one out and have one big bowl instead of a dividing line that makes it hard to clean large platters and dishes!

The house always feel so sad and empty after the Christmas decorations are down. The most bare place seems to be my kitchen countertops. I have a very long, lighted garland that I always run along the back of the countertops during December. As soon as it is packed up, the place seems so empty and bare! Apartment Therapy had an article recently about decorating kitchen countertops that shows some great inspiration and ideas.

I love to cook and when I cook, I have stuff everywhere. Bare countertops usually work better for me but I don’t like the emptiness and coldness of them. I have to find the perfect balance between displays and too much clutter and the difference between functional and non-functional items in the space.

Looking through these pictures is helping me find great ideas for displays that will be functional but also pretty in our house. It is a huge pet peeve when I am at someone’s house and can’t actually use the countertops because there is just so much ‘stuff’ everywhere! Usually you know which friends cook and which don’t, but I think when you visit someone’s kitchen, you really can tell!

These colored glass canisters are gorgeous! Soap, vinegar and oil would all be so pretty in these. It would bring the functional to the pretty in the kitchen.

So what about you guys – what do you display in your kitchen? Do you have a lot of countertop items or are you a minimalist?

Have no fear – this is my year to win the HGTV Dream Home! This house in Vermont looks absolutely amazing and I would love to live here.

The house itself is stunning but look at that backdrop – unbelievable! (I would also LOVE to upgrade my 1999 Grand Prix to the 2011 GMC Acadia Denali!!) What an amazing place to gather with friends and family or to just get away from it all whenever you need. If you won this house, would you move here year-round? I think we would stay in Oklahoma but visit this house often. I would love to host every Thanksgiving and Christmas in this home!

The massive kitchen with the top-of-the-line amenities is amazing! The Wolf range with burners plus grill to feed all 16 people staying in the house? Drooling.

The wine fridge that comes fully stocked? REALLY drooling. 🙂

I am looking for new side tables for our bedroom and love these Ethan Allen ones shown in the guest bedroom. Although the price range I’m considering is a lot less than these $700 beauties! I love the mirrors behind each table and the pendant lamps. This definitely looks a lot better than your typical ‘guest’ bedroom!

You should go ahead and get on my good side so you can stay in the private guest bedroom with its own bath instead of the ski dorm with a dorm bathroom. 🙂 Although, these super modern sinks and faucets are a lot nicer than my college dorm!

You can enter twice a day for the next 47 days – once at HGTV.com and once at FrontDoor.com. I shouldn’t get my hopes up too much, but still…with this gorgeous of a house it is hard not to want it so badly!
