Archive for the ‘Spring Mantel’ Category

Since spring is on her way, I needed to get my mantel de-cluttered, clear and ready for whatever might blow our way! This quick and very simple layout feels so good right now. March is when I finally get over how empty the house feels after Christmas decorations are gone and really embrace the clean and crisp of spring and summer.

On the right side, I have: a candle from TJ Maxx wrapped in some jute cording from Hobby Lobby, a bowl from TJ Maxx with faux pears from Target and a super old vase I spray painted white. It used to be black with white lines. I love the lightness of it now!

I really had to control myself and make a conscious effort to keep this clean and simple. It can feel weird not to have the whole ledge filled with ‘stuff’ but I think this time of the year is all about less. Less is definitely more in this case!

On the left side, we have: a bird from Target I spray painted white, another TJ Maxx candle wrapped in jute cording from Hobby Lobby and a vase I got for $1 at Ross then spray painted white and placed a moss ball from Michael’s inside. The first little guy is actually my first little birdie. I know! They have been everywhere for quite some time but he is my first.

Here is the big shot of our pre-spring mantel as well as our bookshelves. I placed my Ballard inspired Mr. & Mrs. pillows on the hearth to help soften it up as well as get them out of the way of the couch. They are great but they do take up some serious sitting space!

I have plans for the backs of the bookcases as well as the books…stay tuned for an update!
