Currently Coveting

Today, I’m currently coveting a nice, long beach vacation thanks to the newest issue of Lonny magazine.

Lonny VacationHow incredible does this look? It has been a little over a year since we went on our last beach vacation and I’m itching for another one. After seeing these pictures, it will need to happen sooner rather than later!

Chicago Recs Welcome!

I’m so excited, Conner and I are headed to Chicago in September!

I’ve been before but was pretty young and Conner has never been before. SO…I would love your recommendations for places to eat, places to see and places to shop. What’s your must-see and what’s your must-avoid?

Oh, and what are the chances I’ll get to see Nate Berkus while I’m there? A girl can dream…

Aloha!

Last week I was on the best vacation of my life! Conner and I were in Maui for 7 days of fun and relaxing. We stayed at the Four Seasons Resort in Wailea and had the most amazing service ever. If you get a chance to go, do it! You will never regret it. Since Conner earned this trip for us, it was free…which probably helped our experience a little but it was still phenomenal!

The view from our room was absolutely breath taking! I love that we had an ocean view. I’m not sure how we got so lucky as some people in the group looked on to the machine shed.

You know your resort is really nice when you see famous people, including Steve Nash! Bless his heart. We were there during play-offs and he was vacationing instead of playing basketball. He heard a lot of “Thunder Up” from our group as we passed him each day.

Speaking of Thundering Up, we rented some pool-side cabanas and had the best time ever. It was the perfect way to cheer our team on to victory!

An infinity pool overlooking the ocean is the sweetest way to spend your day, we couldn’t get enough of this spot!

Some people left the resort to find waterfalls…the only one I needed was right in this pool! (I know, clearly not the same but I didn’t have to drive on a scary, twisty road to see this one)

I read the whole “50 Shades of Grey” trilogy on vacation. I counted at least 8 books at the pool each day! The mai tai filled pineapples were a hit with our group as well.

Conner was in heaven while playing golf on vacation. They were at the Kapalua Plantation Course and the views were stunning!

While the boys played golf, the girls relaxed! I got a massage in this thatched-roof hut overlooking the ocean. It was the best massage and most relaxing one I have ever had.

Snorkeling in the ocean with this view was pretty cool.

We ventured off of the resort for some incredible food and scenery at Mama’s Fish House. It was the best food on the trip!

Crab and lobster stuffed mahi-mahi with lobster tail on top. Thanks, Mama! I could go for another one of these right now.

Finally, it was time for the awards dinner. We were on the Four Season’s ocean-front lawn. It was beautiful and delicious!

The reason we were in Maui – so proud of my husband for his hard work so we could go on this trip!

Seriously – this view and this place? Stunning!

My favorite part of our days – nothing better than looking at the sunsets while hanging out at the beach with my rock star boo!

One Month!

20120420-083552.jpgExactly one month from today, we will be headed to paradise. Specifically the paradise of Maui!!! I can’t wait for this to be my view as I sit pool/Oceanside, sipping a cocktail and reading something frivolous and fun! It will be so very nice to not think about painting or projects for a week. Mama needs a break!

I am so excited for warm spring and summer weather, especially our vacation to Hawaii! It is all that’s on my mind lately, even though we still have another four months to go.

I saw a preview for Gap’s ikat collection and I became instantly obsessed! These shorts are amazing and perfect for this year’s warm weather. I love ikat and the fact that the print is on affordable clothing makes it even more amazing.

These blue ikat chevron shorts are my must-have for this summer so now my legs have to cooperate! I am doing really well on one of my New Year’s resolutions and have kept up a good routine at the gym. This year, I will be ready for shorts as soon as the warm weather hits! Last year, it didn’t happen until the end of the summer so this year I will be ready by the beginning! If these shorts aren’t motivator enough, I’m not sure what is.

Today, I’m currently coveting Greece!

Why am I coveting it? Because I’m going next May!!

Yes, that’s right. Conner and I are going to Greece for a week long trip next May and I couldn’t be more excited!

Conner’s company offers an opportunity each year for the employees to hit a certain mark within the company and if you hit that mark, you not only get a bonus and raise but a trip for two with the other contest winners!

This year’s contest trip is to Greece and is going to be absolutely amazing. I am the luckiest wife ever – who else gets a free trip to a gorgeous destination like this?!

All of these images are pinned on my Pinterest board as I kept getting more and more excited the closer he got so I kept pinning more images of the beautiful country. I have been hoping all year that Conner would make contest and he did – I am the proudest wife ever!! Love you, boo!

The Vdara

This weekend I was in Las Vegas for one of the most fun weekends of my life. Seriously, I had an absolutely amazing time hanging out with girlfriends from college and celebrating one of our friends on her last fling before the ring! (aka:her bachelorette party) We stayed in the nicest hotel that was only a year old, the Vdara in the City Center.

This is Vdara. Vdara, Cosmopolitan and Aria all make up the new City Center located on the Strip in Las Vegas. It is a fabulous complex with fabulous hotels! I love that we got to stay in such a new place and feel like fabulous, upscale ladies. There were 20 of us girls staying in three suites on the 54th and 56th floors – the penthouse, baby!

This is a Google image of the front outside. It was so cool! There is a little water feature that looks like a mini river with plush chairs and swinging benches that looks like mini beds. So posh and so Vegas!

I didn’t get a picture of our bedroom before the girls started throwing the luggage all around so here is another Google image of what a typical bedroom looks like at the Vdara. I love the floor to ceiling headboard with sconces in the sides. The nicest thing about the bedroom? Blackout shades that close with a touch of a button on the wall! I want and I definitely need this feature.

This is a picture I took of one of my most favorite spots in a hotel – the bathroom! Hotel bathrooms are always so sleek and so nice. I love the modern sinks and uber-modern faucets. The counter space was small but the sinks were large and usually doubled as a counter space as well. Oddly enough, all of the bathrooms included a scale. (See that on the floor in the left side of the picture?) I mean, really. We are on vacation!

This is my favorite feature of the hotel and the first picture I took on the trip – the outside wall that is made up of Chevron tiles!! Oh yes, it was the first thing I saw and oh yes, I was jumping for joy that I got to live here all weekend long! L O V E me some chevron. If you follow me on Pinterest, it is every other picture I pin. I can’t be sorry because I love this pattern!
