2014 Year In Review

Well, 2014 is almost over and it looks like I successfully blogged one time…yay, me. The year just flew by so I used Instagram as my mobile blog. If you follow me, (instagram.com/llcsteen), then you saw everything that happened this year…including moving!

For Sale
It was time for a change and we are loving the change we made! I am proud of the projects we completed in the house in Edmond and will recap those for you this week because then we can get to the good stuff of the new house.

I hope you have enjoyed your holiday season and a fantastic 2014. I’m looking forward to an even better 2015!

Currently Coveting

Today, I’m currently coveting a nice, long beach vacation thanks to the newest issue of Lonny magazine.

Lonny VacationHow incredible does this look? It has been a little over a year since we went on our last beach vacation and I’m itching for another one. After seeing these pictures, it will need to happen sooner rather than later!

Yesterday we celebrated a fun milestone – three years in our second house! Happy 3 year housiversary to us! And yes, I’m making that word up and I’m okay with it.

Happy 3 Years to the houseWe have come a long way, especially the front yard. The first weekend we lived here we (with the help of our family) ripped out the massive Bradford Pear tree that was sucking water away from our Oak trees and we ripped out the oversize hedges that lined the walkway to the house. I love it so much more now – lots of small rose bushes along the walkway, hostas along the front porch and you can actually see the front door!

For a list of the projects we’ve done so far on the house, check out this post. We have more to go but its fun to look back on where we started!

2013 HGTV Star

Are you watching this year’s HGTV Star? (I still don’t know how I feel about the change from HGTV Design Star to just HGTV Star) It premiered on Sunday night and the jury is still out about some of these characters! The design is starting off well though.

HGTV StarThe first challenge was a white box vignette and I loved this one. The x-benches with nailhead trim are fabulous, as is the navy and white!

HGTV Star2Love this bar cart!! It is fancy and practical.

HGTV Star3As for the designers? Check out this guy. He’s a professor and I think I’m obsessed with him. His whole vibe is amazing – I can’t wait to see what else he does this season!

HGTV Star4This girl? Such a cutie. I love her and am totally envious of her hair!

HGTV Star5But my most favorite? The judges. Genevieve and Vern, especially. I have loved them since Trading Spaces!! If I came home and saw Genevieve in my house, I would die. For real. What a dream!

Do you have a favorite yet? It usually takes me 2-3 episodes before I find my favorite. I can’t wait!

No words

Pray for OklahomaMoore, Oklahoma was hit hard today by a tornado. “Hit Hard” doesn’t even begin to describe it but is really the only phrase I can say. The photos and video from today are beyond terrible.

I have a new mirrored nightstand to share as well as plans for future projects. That all seems trivial and meaningless right now as so many are now without a home. Please excuse this week-long break as we all do what we can for those affected by these terrible storms.

Donate to the Red Cross. Donate blood. Pray hard. I am so thankful my family and close friends are safe and sound but many can’t say the same. The next few days, weeks and months will be harder than most of us can imagine. Please help in any way you can.

I love when other people love the projects I do…especially these two projects! I am honored and thrilled to be featured over at two blogs – one last week and one this week. These have quickly become two of my favorite projects I’ve done so it feels great to see others liking them as well!

DIY Mirror Nightstand7Last week, Sarah at Thrifty Decor Chick sent a ton of traffic my way when she featured my DIY mirrored nightstand on her May Before and After party. Her monthly link-ups always provide a ton of inspiration to people like me so it was a huge thrill to see one of my projects as a feature. Thank you so much, Sarah!

DIY Tufted Headboard17Today, I’m featured over at Knock-Off Decor. Beckie with Infarrantly Creative created this website to help people like me who love the look of expensive decor but don’t want to pay the money for them. There are always a ton of great ideas on how to get the look for way less from many different stores. What a thrill to see my DIY tall grid tufted headboard as a main feature! Thank you so much, Beckie!
